Sundae Spatacular has a long history of partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation
After achieving her own wish of creating a delicious spa for kids, Kim Swan decided that it was important to use that accomplishment to give back to others. A proud mother and foster parent, Kim saw first hand what can happen when children's dreams come true. She dreamed of a way of bringing the Sundae Spa to kids who, because of an illness or injury, could not get to the spa. After several trips to bring Sundae Spa to children in the hospital, she had the idea to create a mobile Sundae Spa. To achieve this monumental task, Kim began the initial partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation and that relationship has grown exponentially over the years. While the dream to create the Mobile Spa is still ongoing, many happy moments and wishes have come from our love of the Make-A-Wish kids! In addition to hosting children and doing outreach to those who can't come to Waterbury, several events, including the Grand Re-Opening of the Sundae Spatacular have been earmarked as donation opportunites for this incredible organization. Sundae Spatacular is proud to support Make-A-Wish Foundation and we will strive to further our partnership in the future.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Wish-come-true experiences can do wonders by providing a much-needed break from lengthy hospital stays and medical treatments. They give back to a child what a serious medical condition can take away--the chance to simply enjoy being a kid. Wish kids choose something that will inspire happiness, and allow them to spend precious time with their families. The Connecticut chapter has made over 2,700 wishes come true since its inception in 1986.
